Christmas & New Year

Chris, Tamala & Lucas wish all of our family and friends a (belated) blessed Christmas, Happy New Year and 2011.

Update

Its been a month since our last update. Not much has changed around here. The weather is being weird, warming up, cooling down and now warming up again this week. We've done a bit of catching up with family and friends. We also had our annual Sinta Klaas celebrations with the Vdl family. No photos yet - still gotta get copies of them.

Lucas is on the move EVERYWHERE....he follows us everywhere...and is growing up way too quickly! The photo below was taken yesterday, when i placed him on the chair while looking for his dummy....He did NOT want to come out...

and this how i found him in his cot today, after his afternoon sleep. He was being silly and was actually posing nicely, long enough for me to take a nice photo.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

On the 15th day in November in the year 2008, we were married in the FRC of Southern River. We have numerous photos of our wedding day in our home, and have fond memories of the day. Given a chance, we would do the whole day again...minus the expense of course!!

Our second year wedding anniversary began with a SURPRISE :) Chris secretly arranged to take Monday off work. As we were in Albany over the weekend, he asked my mum if we could stay an extra night at her house. I later found out that both of our families knew about the surprise!! When he told me that we would be taking the scenic route back to Perth on the Monday, instead of the straight through drive on Sunday I was absolutely shocked!! I didn't believe that he had organised all that without me even suspecting that something was going on!!

On Monday we left Albany after breakfast and visited my mum at work to say goodbye. We then travelled along Albany Hwy and and took the scenic route to the small town of Frankland, which has a small winery region. We visited 2 wineries: Ferngrove and Alkoomi and purchased a few bottles of wine. One red, one white and one port...cant wait to drink them again!!

We continued on to Kojonup where we stopped for lunch and a drink before driving home. The bakery on the highway makes the best pies!! All made fresh daily...yummy! And while dad and mum ate pies, Lucas was given a vegemite sandwich.

We finished off the day by going out for dinner to a local restaurant. It was a nice, relaxing day and a great way to spend our wedding anniversary :)

Lucas was also a little star traveller. He was really good and barely whinged. He was quite happy to look out the window, play with his toys and nap. But he was even happier when we got home :)

King's Park

Yesterday, the three of us headed up to the Lottery West Kids Playground at Kings Park, to make the most of the lovely weather we have been having here recently. We also met up with Dave and Heather whose little girl, Erica, is the same age as Lucas. The two kids had fun playing on the swings and were pretty well behaved. Although Lucas detested having to wear his hat and kept pulling it off until we let him play in the shade.

Kids Say the Funniest Things =)

It is interesting how the minds of my nieces and nephews work. For example, yesterday i spoke with my 3yr old niece, Miss A, on the phone:

Miss A: i have a secret
Me: ooohh...can you tell me what it is?
Miss A: yep...and then told me - but i forgot what it was :(
Me: oh wow, guess what...i have a secret too!
Miss A: (yells) OMA, guess what, aunty tamala has a secret too...{she was more excited by the fact that i had a secret then she was in finding out what the actually was}

a little later on in the conversation...
Miss A: i drew a picture...want to see it?
Me: sure id like to see it
Miss A: ok i go get it....puts the phone down and i hear her walking away
Miss: i got it...do you like it?
Me: yep...looks very pretty... {i was told that she was holding her picture up to the phone}

And, a few months ago, i got my hair cut and had this conversation with my 4 yr old nephew:

Mr C: aunty tamala, you look funny! {giggle}
Me: what looks funny?
Mr C: your hair!
Me: why?
Mr C: it sticks out everywhere!! {giggle}

I'm looking forward to the day when Lucas can speak and have interesting conversations :)

Eight months ago our beautiful baby boy was born....wow, time has flown by...and look at him now :)

Home Reno's

The last long weekend was spent renovating our laundry...under the watchful supervision of our dog :) I love my new cupboards, bench top and freezer recess. It means that we have more space in the dining room where the freezer used to live, and we are utilising the laundry space better.

It is very handy have a "cabi" (cabinet maker) husband :) He ripped out and installed everything himself (aside from the benchtop) and did a great job :)

Bath Time Fun

Lucas LOVES his baths and showers! We have even managed to "recycle" his bath equipment, turning his baby bath into a ball pit (see post below) and also converting his toy bucket into a bath :)



I Spy with My Little Eye..

Well, after much fuss for the last two and a half months...the long awaited first tooth has arrived, together with its next door neighbour. That's right...TWO TEETH, no wonder he was so fussy =)

This photo was taken after dinner, hence the sweet potato left "for later". Another change in our household is that Lucas is on the move...well...sort of. He is never in the same position that we leave him in. He pushes backwards, shuffles to the side, rolls when he wants to and is attempting to bring his knees up.

Lucas also has new "favourite" toys he likes to play with - a WCE football, his sippy cup and a bath of balls.

6 months already

Our son was born six months ago. Where does the time go? We never really believed people when they said that times flies when you have a child! But they were right!

weight - 9.3kg and 90th percentile

length - 70cm and 75th percentile

head circumference - 44.5cm and 75 percentile 

New Experiences

Last weekend, we made the trek down the highway to Albany, for our sisters' birthday. And during this time Lucas got to experience a number of "firsts".

On the Saturday we went fishing. This isnt technically the first time Lucas has gone fishing, but last time he slept the entire time and it was dark, so we couldnt see much. Anyway, Lucas got to hold his first fishing rod, watch dad, grandma and aunty tash catch fish and play with mum and aunty jess in the back of the car.

The other "first" experience was going out for dinner and sitting in the highchair. Unexpectedly he was great :) He was quite content to sit by himself, play with toys and throw them on the ground. He also enjoyed his own dinner (pureed pears), but got impatient when daddy didnt feed him fast enough, or bring the spoon close enough. And, as per usual, Lucas charmed the ladies at the table next to us :) They thought he was just adorable.

All in all, Lucas was pretty well behaved over the weekend, but as usual, he was grumpy on Monday when he realised it was just him and mum at home, and he wouldnt be getting lots of cuddles from grandma, aunty tash and aunty jess.

We've joined the craze

So, we have decided to join the craze of blogging! Hopefully we remember to update regularly.

Just to refresh your memories: we have been married for 1 year and 9 months, and we have a son, Lucas, who is almost 6 months old. Chris is currently working as a cabinet maker and Tamala is a stay at home mum. Lucas is a very cute, (not so) little boy who keeps us on our toes. He loves to smile, can roll from tummy to back, is able to sit on his own for a short period of time and is also in the process of cutting his first tooth. Oh and he has started solids and he loves his baths :)
