Lucas has come out with some cute lines lately ...

This month his favourite saying has been to tell me that every bit of food I make for him "tastes yummy Mum"

If you know Lucas, you know that he talks.a.lot! Often I find myself just "uh huh-ing" when he speaks, usually when I'm driving. Last week he was talking away, as usual, and I must have forgotten to respond, so he says "Do you hear me Mum?"

Sometimes I get frustrated with the kids and will say "Oh for goodness sake". A few weeks ago I was busy in another room when I heard the kids in the passage. All of a sudden I heard Lucas say "oh for goodness sake missy" in a very exasperated tone to Tahnee! I had to laugh to myself ... but it was a good reminder about being a role model to the kids and using the behaviours I want them to emulate.

Yesterday morning he found spare breast pads in the bathroom cupboard and told me I needed to "put them on your boobies"

Again yesterday, after having a very pregnant friend over for coffee/playdate in the morning and after his sleep, I went to get him out of bed and he pats my tummy saying, "Mum, do you have a baby in your tummy?" I said no. He then proceeded to tell me all about babies that move in tummy's. Not sure where he got that from!! Wouldn't have thought he would still remember feeling Tahnee move inside me.

And every morning when I get him out of bed, he eagerly asks if Dad is home. When I saw know, he holds up 2 fingers and says "okay Mum, Dad will be home in 2 hours" ... I wish buddy! I once told him it would be more like 10 hours to which he replied, "how about 4 hours {pause} or 6 hours?". Ahh....its not really a negotiation!!

Muffins

Yesterday I made muffins together with my two little helpers. That meant we had to sample our food afterwards! We made apple&cinnamon and double choc chip muffins. Lucas was keen to try the double choc chip, and I decided to let him, even though it had dark choc chips (with milk solids) and milk. We have been noticing that his allergy is getting better and he is now able to tolerate milk that has been cooked in the oven. Unfortunately he can't tolerate milk cooked over the stove yet (eg. in scrambled eggs). But we are happy with his progress so far, hopefully the allergist is too when we go back to see him :)

By-gone memories 2

On this day in 2011 we were bringing Tahnee home after 34 days in hospital. Can't quite believe its been a whole year already!

On this day in 2010 we discovered Lucas had an allergy to something, we weren't sure what at the time, and had to bring him to after hours GP as he swelled up and went anaphylactic. Unfortunately we were too worried about Lucas to take photos of him after the reaction, so you will have to make do with a photo taken at the Airport.

On this day in 2009 I was 20 weeks pregnant with Lucas.

Hand Impressions

A CDH friend of mine who lives in Perth has recently started a company called Impressionable Moments. She takes hand and/or foot casts, paints them and then displays them in various frames and arrangements. Look at her facebook page for ideas on arrangements and options available.

In the week before Tahnee's birthday we had hand impressions of both hands and feet of Tahnee and Lucas done. Unfortunately only the hands worked out. Both kids were not a fan of the product and were a tough pair to cast!! And Lucas's needed to be redone at Tahnee's party too. Then on Father's Day we took photos and supplied one of them to Jaime.

Jaime was very accommodating and professional. She came to the house for the casting, supplied everything she needed from the cast product to a container for the moulds to be done in to paper towels to a few frame options She remained cool under pressure while doing the casts and was determined to get a good mould done. She would have even dropped off the frame had we not been in her area and could pick it up ourselves.

We could pick which frame style and colour of frame, mat and hand that we wanted. We went for a scratched-look silver frame, black mat and silver border, with the name labels in silver too. Each of the labels has the respective name, age and birth date of each child.

We are really happy with the finished results! Now to find the perfect spot to hang it ...

2012 Soccer Carnival

Saturday was soccer grand final day, finished off with a carnival. The day was filled with soccer games, lollies, hot chips, hamburgers, hot dogs, donuts, honey buns and a petting zoo! We had a busy day, watching Chris play 2 games, one game of Casey and Lachlans, followed by the grand final of the senior mens.

We browsed through many of stalls and ate way too much food. Lucas got to feed and pet the baby animals and he got to see and touch a snake!

We didn't take many photos, choosing instead to absorb the day with our own eyes. The weather could have been a bit warmed and the wind chill a little less, but it was a good day in all ... until we walked back to our car to discover that we had forgotten to lock it and someone thought it would be funny to turn our interior lights and headlights on, thus draining our battery. Thankfully we were able to get a jumpstart quickly and head home.

Last week I overheard Lucas telling someone to smile and say "cheese". So I went to investigate. I found him taking photos of his toys all lined up on the heater. He then had to show me the photo he took :)

Morning Faces

Tahnee has pretty crazy hair and like most people, her hair is especially so in the mornings! This is the face I wake up to each day :)

And this little monkey requested some photos to be taken of him too. This is how he eats Cocoa Pops (a current favourite of both kids!)

Today both were all dressed before breakfast and Tahnee wearing one of her pretty headbands made by a friend in Albany.

Sunny Spring Day

Saturday was a lovely, warm day here at home! The first real warm day in quite a long time. In the afternoon that translated into shorts and short sleeve shirts, and a walk down to the local park so the adults kids could play on the slides and swings.
