Hospitals and Quilts

This post is a little different...yes its about the hospitals KEMH & PMH and about quilts...but its about what goes on behind the scenes, that most people have no idea about. At first you may think that these are two non-related items and should be individual blog posts. However...read on and you will find out that they have a special relationship.

Each hospital has a group of wonderful volunteers who give their time and goods for the children. Some people volunteer in the cafe and gift shop, while others are involved in making things such as knitted blankets, knitted stuffed toys (like our oma's/grandma's made us when we were little), little outfits, quilts and the like. We heard about these generous people and told my mum, who had also heard about it from her friend. And she set about making 3 small quilts for the NICU at KEMH. (Please contact the hospitals directly before making anything, as there are some strict guidelines (eg. sizing) that must be adhered to).

The 3 quilts my mum made include a girl one, a boy one and a gender neutral one. We are lucky enough to be able to choose which one we want. However, since they are all gorgeous we are having a tough time choosing just one :P So w need to wait until the baby is born and we know the gender before making our selection.
