* Friday *
On this day I went to Good Friday church service in the morning while Chris stayed home to look after the kids. When I got back we prepared some lunch and Chris got ready to head out for a game of golf. He had organised to play 9 holes at Burswood with my mum, my sister and her {new} boyfriend.
After they arrived back home, we immediately started dinner preparations. We were expecting friends of ours, with their 2 littles. We made a yummy bruschetta for entree, and we each took along our own meat for a BBQ dinner. Dessert was chocolate mousse! We enjoyed a lovely evening, catching up and talking til way past midnight!!
* Saturday *
Today we had made arrangements to visit a Maze, over an hour drive away. We went with my mum, sister and her boyfriend (my other sister and her boyfriend were away for the weekend). We left early-ish so that we had most of the day to enjoy the maze, while the kids were relatively happy.
Once we arrived at The Maze, we went inside, paid and then headed for the main attraction, also called The Maze. This maze had boarded up walls, and the aim was to find coloured flags before finding the platform at the end. Jess and Jonny found it all first and ended up directing the rest of (and a big group of tag-alongs who were also lost!) on how to get to the end.
After this maze we sat down for a rest and a quick kick the football game while we waited for a Koala exhibit.
The Koala exhibit consisted of a person giving a quick talk and then circulating with a Koala that everyone was allowed to touch. As I was off feeding Tahnee I missed out on this experience. However, Lucas got to touch the animal and loved it!
Next we played a few quick games of connect 4, life size!! Its a game we all haven't played in years:)
Afterwards we headed over to the smaller mazes. One was a rope maze that the boys did, and another was a tyre maze. There were 2 other mazes that we didn't get photos of, but involved everyone either making only left hand turns, or only right hand turns. Two mentally challenging mazes!
Once we had completed the mazes, we claimed a spot on the grass, near a barbecue and proceeded to have lunch. And it was a good spread. Sausages, lamb and steak, salad and bread! Perfect for our day, and cooked well by the boys.
The Maze also has a few other attractions: disc golf and mini golf. Since it was nearing early afternoon and we weren't sure how much longer the kids would be good for, we elected to play disc golf first, as no one had played it before. It basically involves 9 short holes and a frisbee instead of a golf ball. For me it was quite difficult to play and do well at, as I have an old wrist injury that limits some movement, but it was still fun to play.
As it was nearing Tahnee's feed time (again!), I chose to sit in the cafe and feed, while Chris, Jess and Jonny went to play mini golf. My mum also chose to sit with me and play with Lucas. It didn't take long for Lucas to claim her lap and fall fast asleep!! About an hour later everyone was ready to leave and we piled into the car for the long drive back. Thankfully both of our kids slept most of the way home!
We ended the day with dinner at Chris's parent house, before heading home for an early night!!
* Sunday *
Today was a usual day. We headed to Church and then went t my mum's for coffee, cake and lunch. That night we had another early night as we had planned another busy day the next day!
* Monday *
It was our day to work around the house! I painted 2 of our patio posts that had been unpainted for a number of years. I then headed inside to get things done there. Chris worked outside all day, knocking down an old brick barbecue and then cutting down and pruning some trees. It may not sound like a lot, but it did equate to a busy and fruitful day!
