Oh no, a very inattentive move resulted in this ...

A few months ago I posted here about our current struggles, particularly with PND. And I also mentioned that I probably wouldnt say much about PND ... until I stumbled across (okay, more like God used someone else to post a link to another blog on facebook), a blog post that I just HAD to share.

PND involves good days and bad days. Its a fact. I wont deny it ... its absolutely true. And yesterday was a bad day! As most PND literature will state, there doesnt need to be a specific trigger for a bad day, sometimes its all the pent up emotion/stress/anxiety etc that gets released. I wont go in specifics of yesterday for me, its enough that you know it was a bad day.

Just a few minutes ago I clicked on a link a facebook friend put up. It led to this blog post, which I felt was applicable to so many mums. If you have a minute, have a read.

Dinner Servers

A few weeks ago Chris, myself and my Mum were asked to cater for a dinner ... for my sister, her boyfriend an some friends, on the occasion of her birthday.

Chris was also asked if he would kindly make a cake, and decorate it with fondant. My sister chose the design and colours, and then came over to help bake the Red Velvet Cake and later on helped supervised Chris decorating it.

The actual birthday dinner was planned for a Saturday. Chris played the late game of soccer that day, so we were pushed for time to get home, get ready and shower and go to Mum's. Thankfully Mum and Tash were very organised and most of the preparation had been finished earlier in the day!

The dinner party was held at Mum's, in the back room. Dinner consisted of 5 courses, beginning with a simple, but appetite whetting bread and chunky dip on the table. While the 6 guests were consuming their starters, the 3 of us were busy preparing the entree, bruschetta!

The next course was garlic and chilli prawns on a bed a rice. Chris was in charge of presentation and used a small bowl as a mould for the rice, topped it with 5 prawns and drizzled the dressing around the outside. From all accounts, the dinner guests were pretty impressed :) And it was oh so yummy and oh so moreish!!

The main meal was served next, apricot stuffed chicken with apricot sauce, a mixture of steamed and roasted vegetables and a tossed salad. Each person was served a whole chicken breast each, and we were very impressed that most of the food was eaten!!

The fourth course was dessert, chocolate mousse, whipped cream and chocolate flakes. The fifth and final course was the birthday cake, served with coffee.

As I am describing these meals, I am well aware that I have no photos of them! Sorry!! You will just have to use your imaginations :)

Soccer begins

For those who are involved in soccer in the FRSL, you will know that soccer began 3 weeks ago ... however, Chris was unable to play the first match for 2012 as we went down to Bunbury to celebrate a 30th birthday. Then, the second week Chris's team had a bye ... so today was his first game for '12.

The day before, the weather forecast was for rain, so I had decided that I would stay home. There is nothing worse than sitting at soccer, cold from the rain, freezing from the wind and tying to keep 2 kids relatively dry and happy! However, the morning of, the day was clear, and a glance at the radar at lunch time showed no rain on the horizon, so we decided to all go down :)

At one stage during the game, Lucas and I took a wander down to visit Chris in the goals. For those who have seen Chris play, you will know that he is fairly loud on the field! After Lucas had a chance to watch Chris (and hear him!), we began to walk back to our chairs. The ball was about three-quarters of the field away, when Lucas decides to yell quite loudly, "GO! RUN! RUN!' ... what can I say but "Like Father, Like Son" LOL

Towards the end of the game, Lucas and cousin Ashton were getting a little antsy and were wanting the attention of Opa, who was lining on our side of the field. So they grabbed their chairs, sat near the line and starting yelling "OPA! OPA!". He acknowledge them with a wave and a smile, but it wasn't good enough for the boys. They kept calling for him, and when he was close enough, he asked what they wanted. In reply, Lucas said "Opa! Watch me!" ... I think he was jealous Opa paid so much attention watching the game, rather than on him!!

And it was a good day. The weather was good, Lucas loved having freedom to run and play with his cousins, and Tahnee enjoyed the fresh air and cuddles!

Park Playdate

This morning the kid and I ventured up the freeway to King's Park where were meeting friends for a park playdate :) Although the day was overcast and foggy, we had a great time (except for Tahnee spewing up her banana custard on me!). I only remembered to take a few photos on the kids on the swing.

Hardware shops

Chris loves taking Lucas into hardware shops such as Bunnings and Mitre 10. These photos were taken at Bunnings back at the beginning of March.

Recently Masters opened up near us, and we took an hour to check out to competition (so to speak) and let Lucas have a ride on the most awesome trolleys invented :-)

A battle of Wills

Today Lucas and I had a battle of wills over his afternoon sleep time. We went out this morning, and on the way home Lucas fell asleep in the car. At home I managed to transfer him to his cot while keeping him asleep. But less than an hour later, he woke up, yelling that he was "all done sleep". Now I know that an hour is not enough sleep for him, but as Tahnee was also asleep, I decided to take him, feed him lunch and put him back in again. This all went according to plan ... until it came to the putting back in bed stage!!

What ensued involved Lucas getting out of bed, only to bed be put back in again by yours truly. This happened 3 times, until he gave up and sang songs to himself and then fell asleep.

However, this is the sight I walked in on, when I went to wake him so he would still sleep that night ... payback??
