AQWA

Due to the CAAF CDH Australia weekend, we had friends of ours visiting from QLD. Cherub Hope is a month younger than Tahnee and together with her sister, Ava, is just adorable!

We took the opportunity to catch up after the CAAF weekend and went for a morning to AQWA. The aquarium is about a 45 minute drive from our house, and since we left mid morning, Lucas went for a snooze in the car :)

We arrived first, so Chris took the opportunity to take some photos of Hillarys Boat Harbour and the beautiful day.

After greeting J&T, A&H, we all headed inside. The kids were immediately fascinated by the small windows of fish in the front passage.

We decided that the first area we would head was the conveyor belt that took us on a ride through an underwater tunnel. The kids had a ball, and we heard lots of "wow", "look at that shark/fish/sting ray" and squeals of excitement.

Next we went through the passages, looking into all the small viewing windows. We saw many creatures, including these coloured jelly fish.

We then headed off to the low lying pools for a closer look at the coral, fishes and crocodiles. Lucas got very excited when he spotted a Nemo fish :)

Our next stop was the touch pools. Throughout the whole morning Lucas had been attempting to touch the fish behind the glass, so we thought he would love the touch pool ... we were wrong! He didn't want a bar of it :(

After a stop to browse at the gift shop we headed down to the other aquarium and sting ray bay.

Since the children were fussing for lunch, we skipped the sting ray bay area and instead walked over to Hillarys Boat Harbour for a bite to eat. We took along salad buns and bought some chips, while J&T and the girls enjoyed yummy fish and chips.

We ended the time together by driving up to their apartment (5mins away) so Jess could take some photographs of the quilt Mum made (more on that later) and then we headed off home. Perth has turned on some lovely weather for J&T and from all reports they have thoroughly enjoyed their time in WA. One day we hope to return the favour and head over to their side of the country :)
