Family Day - Kings Park Oct 2012

Oma Vander Linden is over from Canada visiting her two children and their families. Thus, a family day at Kings Park was arranged. It was planned that we would all meet around 12noon near the War Memorial to go for a walk to see wildflowers. However, we were running late! It wasn't too bad thought, because as were parking the car at the Park we got a phone call saying they were heading for the playgroup instead, as it was too warm. Perth was experiencing a balmy, 34 degree day. Not unusual, but it was something to get used to that day as we had just shivered through a pretty cold week!!

After sun screening the kids and ourselves, we drove around to the playground near Sticky Beak's cafe. We found a shady spot and settled in for some talking, some playing (both in the Park and with a football) and some eating.

Around 4ish (I think, I don't wear a watch so not sure exactly), we fired up the barbecues and got the sides ready. Everyone had been asked to bring their own meat, and also a salad to share. We had 8 or 9 salads, and not one of the was the same! We had everything from a pick salad, tomato salad, coleslaw and pasta salads. It was very yummy, very summery.

Most of us started packing up to leave around 530, as we still had kids to bath and put to bed. Our two kids had missed out on their afternoon sleeps and were getting pretty tired. They both fell sound asleep in the car! However, they still went for a quick shower before heading to bed.

It was special being able to be all together, minus 1 person, and having Oma there too. The last time she was in April 2008, and the two families have grown considerably since then!
