M-day

Today is the day!! Albeit, a bittersweet day. Four years and one month after purchasing and moving into our first home, Chris and I were preparing to move. Our humble abode was a modest 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom (no bath) and 1 living area. It suited as quite nicely, until our family grew with the arrival of Tahnee. It meant that our spare room/study became a bedroom, and the study desk and computer were moved into the living area, making it quite cramped!

Then we had an opportunity to rent a bigger house. After careful consideration, Chris and I decided that the market wasn't quite right, and we actually be selling our house for less than we bought it!! So, with much apprehension we decided to put it up For Lease! I am very worried about tenants moving in, as its still our first home and I have heard many a horror story about being a landlord. However, we did our research and feel that we chosen a good real estate agent to act on our behalf!
So, today was the day ... we had been living with boxes in Tahnee's room since Easter. But the last few weeks we got serious, and now had boxes stacked floor to ceiling, in both passages (the passages forms a T shape). It was difficult to walk down them, especially if holding one of the kids. However, knowing we were moving to somewhere bigger made it all bearable.

I spent the morning finalising the packing and doing some of the cleaning. Chris's mum came over to help me, and together we had it done by early afternoon. We even had a chance to have a rest before the truck and trailers were due to arrive.

Chris arrived home soon after we finished, and he immediately began to work at home. He dropped off a trailer load to the rubbish dump, and then came back to load up some of the boxes. I stayed at the "old" house, while Chris's mum went to the "new" house. Chris managed to do 2 trailers by himself, and as he was leaving with the second load, a friend pulled up with his empty trailer. The boys had it timed very nicely, as Chris arrived back to the old house, our friend was pulling away with a full load!

The truck had been scheduled for 4pm, however we got a call saying it was running late (we borrowed it from a friend). So we persisted with the trailer loads and also brought some stuff over in the cars and a ute tray. Around this time I headed over to the new house, to coordinate and begin unpacking if possible. Most of the ladies helping us were here too!

A group 8 guys were at the old house, loading up the truck when it arrived. They were bound and determined to only make one trip with the truck, and my unfortunate change table had the privilege of pride of place at the top, as the third tier!! I wasn't able to get a photo of it on the truck as our camera was packed and my phone flash wouldn't work properly, but thankfully it survived the trip over, as did the tree branch it collected in the process :(

Anyway, a few hours later and we had everything off the trailer and sorted, relatively, as in roughly in the room we wanted, or in the shed if we were unsure. Now to the daunting task of unpacking almost every box and rearranging things to fit into the new house :)
